A fairly "old" story Bob.
The "real" story is "if it ever really starts".
Your guess is as good as mine. Of local interest is how our PM in New Zealand
[ZL} is distorting many things.
For the record, ZL is totally "opposed". First time ever there is a different
position between us and the cousins....
He said today from there [ZL]:
"If Australian troops are killed in Iraq, remember Bali". That is a horrific
statement to make, totally without precedent.
At that point he totally lost me and god knows how many other Australians.
That's "jingoistic crap circa 1917..." we know it well...
Him and his government have now revealed a previously unknown side... I'm
shocked and I'm not a political dummy.
He, with others have moved to the "dark side". He, hours later back pedaled
that position but too late, the damage had been irrevocably been done.
Previously I've politically disagreed with him over many issues *but* he had my
respect as a decent Australian advancing our interests, as you would expect.
Not now, not ever again.
If we {Australia] unilaterally along with the USA go to war, stand by for
fireworks, mass civil disobedience, god knows what potential terrorist
activities and more important, our nearby neighbours might get the balls to say
to Australia:
"You're nothing but a flea on a dog's bum"
This is what the average arrogant Australian fails to understand. We're a 18
lousy million people among literally billions of neighbours, moslem, buddhist,
christian whatever.
They're more than quietly getting sick of the "crap" emanating from Canberra".
Sick of a moralising Australia who knows all, sees all. We're going to have an
UN resolution, omit those who have been leaned upon, those bought for billions,
those threatened [Canada is a standout who stands firm on moral grounds] and so
forth and who is left?
Sorry for the rant.
It's "my" perception of reality.
