Short lives but merry, one would think. Ken seemed rather a
rough-and-tumble sort, but Dave was almost genteel in his approach.
Curious, I think I was about 40 when I had to stop making beer due to lack
of space, having moved to the beach.

I have pondered that the telegraphic signal "BTU" is perhaps just one side
of some interminable English vs. Metric rant, with one operator closing
each transmission with "BTU. BTU" and the other (unheard) ending with
"CALORIE, CALORIE." Makes about as much sense as whatever else.

But the BTU holds no stupidity candle to the old RN unit of capacitance,
the "Jar."

And I take exception to the Old Timer who proclaimed that some things are
"never heard" on CW. I recall listening to more than one new operator
apparently attempting to contact a US Navy vessel, sending "NNGT" over and
over, then "DE" and the sender's call sign. Never heard a transmission
from NNGT, however.

I don't recall, dang it. Used to be right on the tip of m'tongue.
