Have been away and missed this evolving thread, but where I grew up the
local beer was Watney's Red Barrel. It was pretty grim, although at the
time, not having enough money to be a discerning beer drinker, I didn't
realise how bad...

Anyway it the standing joke became:

"Don't take the piss out of Watney's, it needs all the strength it can get".

(for those challenged by this play on words, 'taking the piss' is 'taking
the mickey' or criticising).
