[SOC] G5RV

Sort of...but I think that a 1:1 through balun inserted at the junction
between the co-ax and the twin feeder is best, because it then makes the
antenna 'balanced', and a lot more self-cancelling as regards local
electrical noises.
I run the half-sized version here. It was hopeless as bought, but the balun
improved it greatly.
I live on a mobile home park, where a lot of the power lines run very
shallow, and actually in the open under the 'vans, so you can imagine what
an unbalanced antenna sounded like in the evenings on 40 :-).
I think my balun came from Moonraker, but I'll dig out a Radcom and make
sure if you want.

Hi Gang,

I'm in the process of erecting a 102' G5RV. I seem to recall reading
somewhere that a choke balun on the 50R feed back to the shack is advisable.
I gather that half a dozen turns of about 6" diameter on the feed will do
the trick.

Any comments?

Best
