> "Another double standard?" Meaning: Clinton lied
> about fellatio, getting himself in trouble = Bush lied
> about the imminence of the threat from Iraq, getting
> thousands dead and homeless and squandering decades'
> worth of good will? No, I didn't mean that.
1. Clinton lied under oath to a Gran Jury, which is a Felony. Last I knew
there was at least 12 people in Federal prison for doing the same exact
thing. It's not a matter of do you like him or don't you, party affiliation,
etc. It's a matter of breaking the law and getting away with it.

2. I have not heard any evidence that Bush lied. He said something that was
not true, but to lie he had to have known that it was not true and still
went ahead and said it. As far as I know there is not even any evidence that
Saddam did not attempt to get nuclear materials and/or technology. Do you
know something that the rest of the world does not???

3. Prove to me that he lied and he's dogmeat in my eyes. I'm not a blind
"dittohead" for the right or the LEFT.

> You mean, they both "lied" about Saddam trying to
> get nuclear weapons? I don't doubt that Saddam would
> have gotten them if he could, and don't fault either
> president for being concerned about it.
That's good.

> At issue is Bush riding roughshod over world opinion
> to promote this war, right in the midst of Saddam
> allowing more and more inspection, due to world
> pressure. It's about this particular dictator being so
> much more "important" and "threatening," due, perhaps,
> to the oil reserves?
> It's about Bush's failures
> domestically, and the specter of his "administration"
> being uncovered for the dupes of the large
> corporations they are, requiring that he fill the
> airwaves and minds of dittoheads throughout the land
> with patriotic images of vengeful fervor, to get out
> of the hot seat.

1. Both presidents have said that something had to be DONE about Saddam.

2. Both President Bush and Clinton, both houses of U.S. Congress, Democrat
and Republican leaders, French and German leaders all said publically that
there was no way for inspections to work when the object of the inspections
was intent on deception. Inspections work when a country wants to cooperate.
Otherwise it is a total waste of time... in this case a total waste of
twelve years all while Saddam tortured and killed his own people.

The only crime is that the Bush administration did not handle the PR on this
well at all. They allowed the French and the Germans to double-talk, change
their views and twist the facts until we ended up looking like the "bad
guys" for carrying out a U.N. resolution. Talk about a topsy-turvy world!

Sorry... the other crime is that now the spineless Democrats are trying to
pull a "Frenchy" and turn the whole thing around into strictly a Bush
Administration deal. Not all of them mind you, some have enough balls to
stick their ground.
