Claude et al,

  I value this list highly. I haven't been posting too
much lately, partly bcoz the current events are so
vast, complex and horrible, and I'm, as Ian surmised,
a bit introspective about the whole thing (sanity
preservation), and bcoz my family and business require
a lot of focus of late. 

   One of the things that works for me vis-a-vis this
list is the absence of structure. I've discovered an
international brotherhood of diverse folx who have
some very fun common interests, and the diversity and
extramurality of perspective is like a deep breath of
cool, fresh air after spending years and years in the
bowels of a fetid locker room.

   The acknowledgement of our common SOC-ness is a
fine thing...reminds me of my early-adulthood
epiphany: everyone is an a-hole, the ones who know it
are small a-holes, and the ones that don't are big
a-holes. It's anti-elitist, humorous, thoughtful and
stimulating, being in this list, I think.

  The current trend of thoughts being expressed are
SOC. Long may they wave.
