Laphroaig is my second favourite (always with a splash of water
to release the aroma). This was taught to me by a Scotsman whom
I met in Brussels whilst on a contract.

He'd brought a litre of Laphroaig to demonstrate to another
(American) contractor also working in Brussels who thought that
Chivas Reval was the 'bee's knees'.

He freely shared the bottle amongst the people in the bar (including
staff) on the condition that we drank it 'his way' which involved
adding just a touch of water (maybe 20%).

The water transforms the drink, tempering any harshness in the
peatiness and eliminating the slight burn that's present when
drinking it neat (40% abv). You then get to smell and savour
the aromas.

He also brought Haggis which wasn't universally acclaimed!

I just love the Islay malts.

Paul :-)
