Ok, ok. I give up.
I was trying to argue from a half-remembered speech given by Tony Benn who
stated that the main differencence between the US and the UK is that the US
as a republic has citizens who are all equal under the law whilst the UK as
a monarchy has subjects who are all subordinate to the Crown.
Politics was never my strong point ;-)
