I guess we don't have too many of these kind of folks here in southeast
Arizona but we are living in the middle of the largest drug and illegal
immigrant smuggling routes in the country.  A week doesn't go by that
there isn't a shoot out between the smugglers and the Border Patrol or
Customs officers.  I live a couple minutes from the local Police station
but a lot of people live in the country side where Police response time
is from 30 minutes to 2 hours.  These people cut fences, kill cattle,
harass the locals, and can be extremely violent.  Most people in the
rural areas won't go out of the house without a weapon and the bigger
the better.  This is war, and if it were Crawford, Texas, you'd better
believe that the Marines would be here.  A National Park Ranger was shot
to death by a drug smuggler lately---think I'd go out there unarmed,--no
way.
