[SOC] A wish

Hi All,
The world's going completely and utterly nuts!
In the press a couple of days ago it was reported that a library in England
had refused to display a timetable for local Christmas carol services
because it might offend religious minorities.
The self same library had, a few weeks earlier, both advertised (with
leaflets) and subsequently hosted a Muslim religious event. I believe it had
something to do with Ramadan but I'm not sure; I'm not a Muslim (nor a
practising Christian for that matter) and so mostly these matters pass me
by.
The sheer hypocrisy of the two events though leaves me almost speechless. I
can still type though ;-)
I wish a very Happy Christmas to those of a Christian persuasion and
Seasonal Greetings to others. As far as I can recall, Christmas was moved to
the Winter solstice some time in the deep and distant past anyhow to replace
previous heathen celebrations whose purpose was to use up stored food which
was pretty much on its sell-by date before it went off.
Political correctness and a litigious nature are becoming a part of life
here. It's almost as bad as California. In today's Telegraph it was reported
that a postman is suing a man for posting too many letters into a post box
thus causing said postman to injure himself whilst trying to empty it. All
that I can discern is that insurance premiums are going up and previously
innocent village events have been cancelled for fear of litigation.
Can't we all just "GET A LIFE!".
