Nice explanation from Paul.

Like the Yanks, the Aussies have taken the english language forward.

They are the only race who could use a phrase like "Bloody whingeing pommie
bastards" as a term of endearment.

"Whingeing" because the bulk of Brits who emigrated to Australia were
international-class moaners, who spent their life sofar moaning about the
UK, and then continued moaning when they were not greeted with the red
carpet and marching bands when they spewed off the ship in Sydney.

Unfortunately for us, many of them failed to hack it in Oz any better than
they had in Britain, and so came back to the UK, where they continue to moan
about the weather, and how they wish they had stayed in Australia.  We
therefore imported the phrase "Why don't you just **** off back there then?"
from the Aussies.
