[SOC] Nursing home? Nahhh....

CNN says the average cost for a Nursing Home in the USA is $188 per day!
Scary, eh?

So how about this: a real nice room at the Holiday Inn goes for around
$65... that leaves $123 for beer, food (room service), laundry, Elvis
collectibles, gratuities, and clothes. Just about all Holiday Inns have a
swimming pool (very healthy exercise), some even have workout rooms (great
for physical therapy), a lounge (for socializing), cable TV right in your
own private room (recreation), washer and dryer (if one becomes too
impaired, a child or grandchild can pick up clothes once a week, or they
could rotate; that way everyone would only have to do it a few times a
year). Many Holiday Inns offer free toothpaste and razors, and all have
free shampoo and soap. And it's well-known that many Nursing Homes have
the only food on Earth worse than the stuff they serve terminal patients in
hospitals. But in a Holiday Inn, just a phone call will have almost
anything brought right to the room.

There may be a bit of a wait to get a first floor room, but that's okay.
It can take months to get into a good Nursing Home.

To get out now and then, there is the City bus, the Senior bus, the
Handicap bus, a Church bus or van, cabs, even volunteers who are glad to
cart seniors around. Holiday Inn has security, and if someone is seen to
drop over, surely an ambulance would be called. And if a guest breaks
something, like a hip, a good lawsuit could add spice to life. What more
could anyone want?!

With AARP and other Senior discounts, one could live pretty darn nicely.

So, when I reach that Golden age, to help me keep my grin,
just check my tired old rickety ass into the nearest Holiday Inn!
