Hi Dennis

When away from a land-line. Personal calls at work. In the pub. Whilst
shopping. etc.

My view of a mobile 'phone is that it's for *my* convenience, not for
others. I view it as being primarily a means for *me* to communicate with
others when *I* need to. It is not for others to demand of me that I be
instantly accessible to them. Particularly my boss who tends to get pissed
when I switch the thing off (most of the time..)

There are obvious exceptions of course: family crisis or wife's late
pregnacy to give examples where I would *elect* to be contactable.

But it's my 'phone. I pay the bill and it's for my benefit. I use it as I
wish and choose to neither make nor to accept calls whilst piloting half a
ton of 3 litre Volvo.

Best,

Paul M3CRQ :-)

p.s. Compared with the States, the UK is tiny. Most trips are very short.
You really don't need to use the 'phone here whilst driving here except
under exceptional circumstances.
