Fifty-four Forty or Fight in U.S. history, phrase commonly used by
extremists in the controversy with Great Britain over the Oregon
country. The rights of the United States, they maintained, extended to
the whole region, i.e., to lat. 5440N, the recognized southern
boundary of Russian America. It was used as a campaign slogan in the
presidential election of 1844 by Democrat James K. Polk, who was
elected.
>Yours is the only country that has ever invaded ours.
During the French & Indian War(1754-63), Britain and France had armies
in North America.
Depending on whom you talk to, one or both of them could be considered
an invader, I'm sure
the Indians though so.
For the current situation, to quote a line from an old movie,
"Don't discuss religion or politics with anyone over 10 years old."
