We'll cross that bridge when we come to it. Don't forget that Tony Blair and
George W are VERY different politically. If Blair was American he would be
prominent somewhere in the mid-left of the Democrats. If Bush were British
he would probably not rise beyond being the self-appointed leader of an
obscure right wing bible-thumping, pro-hanging, anti-abortion pressure
group.
We have a tradition in our political system of 'burying the hatchet' over
some issues and removing them from party politics altogether - Northern
Ireland and the 'war' against terrorism being the most recent examples.
So Blair has (for the time being) united with Bush on this one important
issue only. Once the war is over I daresay they will resume squabbling over
other issues - this is normal, and healthy.
