Actually the impact wouldn't be too significant, the Goods and Services Tax is
10%, I thought states like California had a similar tax of around 6%

Just one of those weird things. I can buy Queensland pineapples for a dollar
yet if you go to Queensland you'll pay between $2 - 3.00

Much of our beef comes from the Northern Territory, the price up there is
almost prohibitive [last time I was there].

As was said, go figure...
