[SOC] SOC ML troubles - An other vote needed

Hello � tous,

We have all noticed some problems during the last weeks abt the SOC ML.
The whole story was that "someone" was attacking (overloading) the QTH.NET 
server and thus delaying posting and as you have read in one previous mesg, 
even preventing some posts to reach the ML.
This is not the first time Al (K3TKJ) and whole staff there are under attack.
Just remember that this whole service is a free one so we should not complain 
abt the performances.
Anyway, as a ML Admin & user, I am a bit annoyed and sorry to see that posts 
are lost, even if they are vy SOC.
Some weeks ago, Ian, mon bon ami Ian, has made a proposal to help abt the 
situation and told me that he can host the SOC ML on his side.
Well .. what Ian does not know is that bringing the SOC ML to his server may 
bring other problems and who knows, maybe some SPAM attack on his side but the 
proposal being made, it is now too late ..  ;o)
More seriously now (???), here is the poll/survey/vote I would like to start 
during the week-end (yes, you will have 2 full days to think abt it !) :

- Are you OK if the SOC ML moves from QTH.NET to "somewhere DownUnder" ?

Basically, on user's side, nothing will change except the address to use to 
post your SOC news/infos/requests. It appears that Ian's server is using the 
very same kind of interface as the one used at QTH.NET (Mailman robot), so you 
are yet familiar with the commands and fields and so on.
There will be no ads/Commercials in the mesgs, no nothing except ths usual 
footnotes and also each of us will have to send "something" to Ian to thank him 
for the support.
Everything from Lifetime Email SPAM "TNX IAN" to a new (full) bank account in 
HB9 is welcome. Beers are also accepted as long as they reach Ian fresh and 
drinkable.

So here you are, alone face to face with your future and SOC ML's one.
On Monday evening I will let you know abt the results. Each subscriber of the 
list will receive a personnal email to prevent any "lost post" via SOC ML.
And then we will see.

Pse send your vote to soc@qsl.net . You can post comments to the SOC ML but if 
you post your vote to the ML and if it is lost, do not send me your lawyer, I 
have the logs !!

Once agn, this is not a way to say that QTH.NET is of bad quality, I think we 
should all thank Al for the great job done for the ham community. Just looking 
for a place to freely read SOC posts.
