While vacationing in Florida my wife and I had the following conversation
with waitresses
at two different restaurants

"Where y'all from? ( where are you all  from" , some time followed by
"Honey")
"Minnesota"
"What state is that in?"

When we lived in New Jersey(1985/88) my son's high school marching band
was being considered to march in the Rose Parade.

In the letter announcing the band had not been chosen, the reason given was,
"We already had selected a band from your area"
A band from Tennessee had been picked.

We always wondered if our area was
"East of the Rocky Mountains" or only
"East of the Mississippi River"

One day I received a QSL from Spain and a newsletter from a local radio
club.
Both had been mail eight days earlier.  The news letter was sent second
class
bulk to reduce cost and came from a post office less than 10 miles away and
arrived three days after the monthly meeting.

When I ask the clerk at the post office for an explanation, his response
was.
"That's pretty fast delivery from Spain."
