The Malagasy team that has marked against its camp is going to be punished
[2002-11-02 18:13]
ANTATANARIVO (Reuters) - Malagasy soccer Federation is going to take severe
sanctions against the Stade Olympique l'Emyrne (SOE) that, to show its bad mood
after a litigation with the referee, had marked not less than 149 goals against
its camp, reports Saturday the Midday newspaper Madagasikara.
Ratsimandresy Ratsarazaka, trainer of the SOE, champion team of Madagascar the
last year, has vigorously disputed with the referee during a match against the
team of Adema, champion in title in the 1st League, that played Thursday at home
in the stadium if Toamasina.
The SOE wished to protest against the unfavorable decisions to their sake taken
during of a preceding tournament.
Furious, players of the SOE have, right after the launching whistle of the
match, seized the ball following the order of their trainer who was in the
tiers. They have scored 149 goals at a stretch by taking each time the ball of
hands of their guardian/goal, under the mocking look of adverse players.
According to the newspaper, the masquerade was not of the taste of spectators of
the match, that have ran back to the desks to ask the refund of their tickets.
Among players who risk to be sanctioned by the federation figures the captain of
the national eleven Malagasy, Mamisoa Razafindrakoto.

American surgery: it is not the (good) foot
[F saying "C'est le pied" means "It's great", "It's fantastic"]
[02/11/2002 19 :08]
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A surgical operation to subtract a bone in the heel of a
star of the American junior championship of basketball has been successful. The
only problem being that the operated foot was the bad one.
Now, Keith Smith, 17 years and one of the best players of his State, may miss
most of the season because he is going to need a new operation - to treat the
good foot.
It's as in a nightmare, has commented his mother Michelle Smith. I would have
never imagined that a such thing could arrive.
The leaders of the medical center of the University of Oklahoma, where the
operation has taken place last Wednesday, have said they are deeply distressed
of this error. We actively investigare on this incident, has indicated their
spokesperson Allen Poston. If decisions have to be take, we will do it immediately.
Keith Smith is one of the hopes of American basketball and has obtained a
scholarship to the University of Colorado. He will enter his future university
on 11th of November.
His future was entirely planified, had confided her mother. He has worked
hard to reach this level. For his last year of high school, we hoped that he
would be elected player of the year.
This is only in waking after the operation that the young man has understoodt
that his weathly foot was with bandage and hurted. Michelle Smith reported that
he was found in state of shock and that the family was about to start a judicial
procedure.
Keith Smith, that scored an average of 18 points by match during the last
season, had to undergo this operation to remove a small bone that hurt him at
each rebound.
Result: he will have to run off for six to eight weeks ...

The judge of the Microsoft trial has resold her shares/stocks at a loss
[02/11/2002 21:49]
WASHINGTON (AP) - The Microsoft trial will have costed a lot to the federal
judge in charge of the file. Colleen Kollar-Kotelly has had, to warn possible
conflicts of interest, to resell shares that held her family in the
data-processing, while courses were very low, according to her financial registers.
The magistrate, who still holds near a million of shares, had staked 15.000
dollars in January on Sun Microsystems, one of most persisted rivals of
Microsoft, to a moment where the quotation reached 30,88 dollars. But some weeks
after having taken the Microsoft file in August 2001, she has resold her titles
for 10,95 dollars each.
Similarly, the judge had taken for 15.000 dollars of Compaq shares in January,
at $15,78, to resell them at 8,52 dollars. Compaq, since then has been bought by
Hewlett Packard, one of the Microsoft allies.
Colleen Kollar-Kotelly had declared to have reselled for 45.000 to 65.000
dollars of technological titles between 1st January and 28 September 2001 but
the detail of these trades was not available until then. Magistrates have not
the right to sit in files in which they possess a financial interest, in order
that their judgement does not risk to be influenced.
Judges Kollar-Kotelly has ratified Friday the major part of the agreement to the
amicable conclude between Microsoft and the federal government, putting an end
to a four trial years, unless some parts appeal against the decision, what is
not probable.

An English gambler stakes US$ 100000 on Arsenal
[2002-11-02 16:30]
LONDON (Reuters) - A British bettor seems so convinced of a new victory, this
season, of Arsenal in the championship of England of soccer that he has staked
64.000 pounds sterling (approximately US$ 100000) on Gunners.
The gambler, a man, abt thirty years old, whose anonymity has been respected,
has paid his bet with shares, the most raised ever made on the title of champion
of England, according to a spokesperson of the British "bookmaker" William Hill.
"It is an astonishing sum staked on a team that comes to undergo four defeats at
a strech, but the client believes clearly that bets constitute an investment
more interesting than the stock market", has declared Graham Sharpe.
If Arsenal becomes champion England for the second consecutive year, the daring
gambler will receive 140600 pounds, that is a net benefit of 80600 pounds
(almost 126000 US$)
Arsenal, currently second of the First League, is given winner to six against
five by William Hill.
The leader of the championship, Liverpool, is quoted to four against five, but
is climbed up to 13 against 8.
Teams of Manchester United, currently fourth, and Chelsea, fifth, are given
respectively to 9 against 2 and to 25 against 1.
Two weeks ago the club of Everton has put an end to a series of victories of
Arsenal. Defeated 2 - 1, Gunners have then been defeated three time on the same
score, first by Blackburn Rovers in first league, then by Auxerre and the
Borussia Dortmund in the Champions's League.
Arsenal has to meet Fulham Sunday for the championship of England.
