LONDON (Reuters) - the human race could owe its intelligence to the women and 
in particular to her older ancestors who had the good idea to rather choose 
their companions according to their brain than of their muscle. "Humanity 
should thank them, the men especially", writes New Scientist. The theory 
according to which the women more easily pass their mental capacities to their 
children than the men and than genes of the intelligence are concentrated on X 
chromosome is not new. It was advanced 30 years ago by the American Robert 
Lehrke. German scientists think however of having refined search on genes. 
Horst Hameister, Ulrich Zechner and their colleagues of the University of Ulm 
initially studied genes related to the mental deficiencies and they discovered 
that a majority of them were fixed on the X chromosome, which goes per pair at 
the woman whereas the man is defined by the X-Y association. Some of the genes 
which they found are associated to the formation of nervous terminations in the 
brain for the memory and others contribute to the intelligence. "The majority 
of the geneticists think that the German team discovered a real effect - a gene 
excess related to X chromosome persons in charge for the intelligence, known in 
the jargon of the geneticists like the great effect of X chromosome", according 
to the magazine. It adds that "many of us are convinced that it is the result 
of the choice of the woman".

So I do understand that women have twice more risk to get some mental 
deficiencies ... Viva the Y chromosome, it saves us ... !
