Virus Information

There is a lot of confusion about email purportedly coming from QSL/QTH.net
which contains a virus. The is a pretty vicious worm loose at the moment.

To quote the virus specifications page at McAffe, "the worm has the ability
to spoof the From: field (often set to an address found on the victim
machine)." If you look at the header of the message you will many times see
other addresses contained there that are the actual address of the
originating computer.

Let me remind you again there are no legitimate e-mails with a virus coming
from the QTH lists or QSL.net, we do not allow anything attached to a post.

I am getting hundreds hourly from around the world, to protect myself I do
the following.

1. I do not use Microsoft Outlook.
2. I use Eudora 5.1 and set the max message size to 40K this is an
excellent filter for viruses
3. I don't open attachments... ever.
4. I use Norton System Works 2002 and have it set to upload updates every
day. This program scans for viruses incoming and outgoing on your mail account.
