Oink oink all, that was neat stuff. Thanks, Joel for luring me down to
the dark underworld of QRPppp....
I had been celebrating something or other (maybe just being able to find
the corkscrew)- anyway I checked in late, and because KE1LA was rattling my
ears, I checked in at 1W and got a 579.
Well, down one S unit is 1/4 power, so I should have been able to go to 60
mW and get a 559. Joel talked me down to 5 mW but I'm not happy with
that- it's a new home brewed attenuator and it has not yet been calibrated
into a dummy load. However, I do think the 50 mW number is good. Next
week, if the band is kind and the QRM folk don't get us, I'll be ready,
and we can try going down in single S unit steps (1W - 1/4W - 62mW - 16mW -
4mW)
The problem is, even with a K2 at 1W, there is sure to be some capacitative
coupling through the atten. and also some common ground loop coupling. The
switches may say 4 mW, but it ain't necessarily so. If this attenuator
seems to be strict Kosher, I'll write it up for Bacon Bits.

/ wow what a net... had Mike, Mac?, Terry and myself... Terry
/checked in at one watt... I talked him down to 5 mw rst 549 and s8 on the
/k2... Terry said to be sure and say he wasn`t sure about the accuracy of
/his attenuators... so actual pwr may vary however, the indication was 5
/mw..... congradulations mr 599....
/ short net tonite, great conditions....glad mike and mac and terry
/could make it....
