I agree Dan in that I can't believe some of the "jerks" and what they do
on the DX transmit frequency...I call it RADIO RAGE...
...I've stopped chasing for now as I have them both and have returned to
building my K2...I was having trouble with the BFO alignment but with
gary's help, it looks like my problem was a bit of solder shorting one of
the crystals to the fold-over crystal can...a small piec of mylar on the
bottm has solved it and my alignment is now giving me the proper figures
and BFO range...
...I had a "heart stopper" this afternoon...I wondered what Ducie would
sound like on my 80 mtr inverted V (I don't know why) so I switched
antennas and accidently hit the paddle and after 2/3 dits my rig TS-430S
stopped transmitting...
...of course I thought the worse and figured the finals were gone as it's
an old rig...I had other things to do so I got back to the 430S later...I
figured I'd better check thekeying line first...pulled the plug out of my
external TICK keyer and shorted the end and the rog transmitted...WHEW...
turns out the 3 AAAs I have powering theTICK finally gave up the ghost
after 3 years...
...so I dusted off an old Heathkit HD-1410, fired it up and got back on
the air untill I can replace the batteries in the TICK.....
...and so it goes...HAR!...
