[SOC] Falklands/Malvinas (Hopefully Balanced Brit View)

Interesting enough, last Monday I attended the Western Washington DX
Club meeting in Seattle.  The program consisted of a video of the
recent VP8THU DXpedition to Thule Island in the South Sandwich Islands
(named by Capt. Cook, who also discovered the Sandwich Islands, i.e.,
Hawaii).  The video (by 9V1YC) was very well done and showed the
remains of an Argentine "scientific" installation which was put up
during the Falkland invasion and destroyed by the British soon
thereafter (the South Sandwich Islands are just outside the Antarctic
Treaty zone and Britain no more wanted to cede these than the Falklands
themselves.  The island is occupied by a large number of penguins and
conditions for the DXpedition were not exceedingly pleasant.
