When waking up on Sunday morning in Hackney, district of East London, Mustapha
Riat discovered a monkey stealing
his portable telephone. "I saw the animal with long black hairs passing by the
window. It was large and muscular and I
have be afraid that it may bite me", he declared to the Sun.
The animal is also the main suspect after the burgling of a nearby house where
elements of a hi-fi system were stolen.
According to a police spokesman, the first search gave no clue, no owner of
monkey having been localised in the sector.
"We have hardly any hope to find the monkey. It may have been trained in
robbering, but a monkey does not say itself: '
it is a portable telephone, I take it '."
