Nick - Thanks for the ins and outs of cricket. Your explanation is worthy of
my understanding of the game: nearly totally opaque. I loved the explanation.
I'll bet a comparable explanation of American baseball would be fun. Claude
(that mad sports fan) might enjoy it. And yes, Claude, we call it a bat in
baseball, also. My son is discovering (playing soccer and baseball at the
same time) that baseball is a pretty sedentary game. You stand around (or
sit around) about 95% of the time and are only guaranteed activity (depending
on what position you are playing) while at bat. Most of that time you are
not moving and fixedly watching the pitcher, trying to decide whether to swing
