On the contrary, there are still strong ties for many of us, even if there 
have been some minor disagreements over the years (like in 1776 and 1812). I 
still remember as a small child (well, pretty small) watching the coronation 
on an old B&W TV. Even on that tiny screen, it made an memorable impression.
