Yep, sounds good Dennis. At the moment we are having to treat it as
propogation experimentation, although we are not really having to stress the
'disaster comms' angle as much as the ARRL have. (We don't tend to suffer as
much from spectacular weather / Old-Testament style natural calamities
etc.over here).
We are really hoping to get limited use of the 60m band. For some years
during sunspot minima it is often impossible for stations within the UK to
work each other in daylight, 'cos (being so far north) 40 often develops an
overhead skip zone. So we have to wait till after dark and do it on 80 -
which is great in December (when it goes dark at 4:30pm), but not in June
(when 80 doesn't open till nearly bedtime).
OK about the colonies :-)...Your absence from the Commonwealth Games in
Manchester has been noted.
As a free independent democracy with a good (recent) civil rights record,
the USA actually qualifies for membership of the Commonwealth. It is not
necessary for you to have the Queen as head of state (many members
don't)...so get your form in, rejoin the 'family' and see you in Melbourne
in 2006 (not to mention the Commonwealth contest next spring!).
Cheerio Old Bean.
