Hello agn,
This one may be better understood/appreciated by EU-ers.
Mr P, Chris ... I do not know if you were Elektor's readers "some years ago"...
(in the '80s) (http://www.elektor-electronics.co.uk/ )
This mag is in fact coming from Netherlands, as you may know.
Does this pic speak to you :

This has been my 1st computer, home-made "of course". The CPU was a 6502, Xtal
frequency 1 MHz, RAM 1 Kb.
Available upgrades were a VDU card (to display on a monitor), Memory board (64
Kb RAM), I/O board (allowing saving datas on audio tapes, and after that even
on floppy disks).
The SOC-est event I remember abt the building of thic Junior Computer was abt
the VDU (Video Display Unit) board. All my soldering was correct, everything
had been done "a la lettre", as written in the books and still the screen was
remaining blank :o((
3 months later, an erratum has been published in the magazine : the Xtal listed
in the items list was a wrong one. I switched with the new listed value and
aleluya, it worked !!
But in the meantime I had bought almost everything in double (except the board
itself), looking for any possible integrated circuit failure.
Do you need to remember those good old days ??

Que sont mes jeunes annes devenues ?...
