In 1957/58 which I consider to be the best of the sunspot cycles, a
feller would work all continents everyday on AM, there was no SSB
then. The antenna you mentioned would have worked very good
on 28mcs.

So 50' of untuned wire lobbed out of the window and wrapped around two trees
with one end shoved into the phono socket on the back of this marine
communications reciever (I know that's what it is 'cos is says it on the
front) together with a ground connection consisting of a couple of turns of
single core wrapped around a radiator pipe under the table is unlikely to
yield optimum results.
Or did I miss something?
