I think you are not alone in this case, hopefully.
Have heard in the train 2 people speaking (obviously parents as you
are), one telling to the 2nd one that the new film (2nd part of
Potter) was not as good as the 1st one.

Most important is to have fun. I personnaly dislike people proud of
having read Proust from A to Z and analyzing each piece of sentence.
I have not read a single book of Proust and I do feel very well.
