British dogs and cats can count on Santa Claus

LONDON (Reuters) - 25% of British dogs and almost as much cats will
have the right to taste to the Christmas turkey together with their
master, indicates a poll published Saturday in the (London) Times.
According to figures of the institute of research ICM, the British are
going to spend this year near 100 millions of pounds (157 millions of
dollars) in gifts destined for their domestic animals.
Thus, the two-thirds of proprietors of dogs and half of cat
proprietors have planned to buy a gift for Christmas to their pet. To
60% of masters, the present will have an inferior value to 10 pounds,
and 10% have planned to spend more than 30 pounds.
Among presents the most often quoted, one finds chocolate, a collar, a
bowl, a cover, a basket or products for skin care.
