John,
All will be revealed in its full gory detail if you click on:

www.qsl.net/soc

but first you must think long and hard about what you are letting yourself
in for.

Most of the members are Americans, who really don't take themselves too
seriously at all. Yes it started off as a gentle leg-pull on the FOC, but
seems to have taken on a life of its own. We take pride in being
second-class. Competence is tolerated, but not encouraged.
Often the group is more a vehicle for good natured transatlantic
piss-taking.
Membership is free, there are no benefits to speak of. The group also
includes some Brits, the odd Ozzy, and the webmaster is a Frenchman called
Claude who speaks English 'approximately'. Now that's second-class for you.
I see 'the colonies' at your end of the address, which is a bit of wit that
could have come straight off the SOC E-group. You will fit in well.
You may find yourself a member whether you want to be or not. I am about to
suggest that we baptise all the world's hams into the club en-masse, in the
same way that the Moonies do.

Regards, and hope to see you on the E-group soon.

Dear Chris,
   I copied your CW signals today ( 1 Dec.2002-Sunday ) on 10 meters.
Heard you calling , " Second Class Operators Club". Would you fill me in
on this 'club" please. Kinda think you were pulling the leg of the "FOC"
wonder boys, but might be mistaken?
   Will appreciate any info.
       Thanks
