A week in the bed

LONDON (AP) - During a week and since Thursday, a couple of Londonian is going
to pass a week in bed behind the window of a gallery. All is for the beauty of
the art but also to defend the usage of ... condom.

The artist who has had the idea of this exhibition, Liam Yeates, has therefore
opened his window in Soho, allowing people to look at Max Whatley, a 24 years
old realtor, and Meg Zakreta, a 22 years old nurse. Yeates had noticed them
while they kissed each other greedlily in the quarter of Covent Garden and has
proposed them to participate in this project.

Near their bed there is a distributor of condoms.

By decency, when Whatley and Zakreta will use the latex protections they will be
hidden by a slim curtain.

Yeates explains that he wanted via this "exhibition"" to express his reject of
the voyeurism of the TV - reality shows.

Firstly reticent, Whatley and Zakreta then have seen the possibility to test
their love. �We want to live together. This will be a good test to see if we
will continue to love each other after having passed a week together 24 hours
per day�, has told Whatley.

The two turtledoves have the right to leave the window solely to use the
bathroom and to take some fresh air.

Equality of sexes

BHOPAL (AP) - The first eunuch to obtain a high political function in India has
been constrained to resign of his position -devoted to women in the framework of
the parity between sexes - after that a court has decided that an eunuch could
not be considered as a woman.

Kamla Jaan, as most of Indian eunuches, dresses womanly, has provoked an
"earthquake" in the Indian political world when, three years ago, when he has
been elected mayor of a village in the center of the country.

In 1999, Jaan had candidated and had created the surprise by obtaining the
majority of voter voices apparently tired of the corruption of traditional
candidates. But his mandate of mayor of Katni in the State of Madyah Pradesh has
known a brutal stop Thursday after the decision of the court. �Since Kamla Jaan
is not a woman, his election to the position of mayor is invalid�, has concluded
the judge Virendra Singh in a judgement of 40 pages.

Jaan has asserted that he is a "natural" eunuch - i.e. he has not been
castrated - and that consequently, he could not be considered as a man.

India counts several tens of thousands of eunuchs whose majority are castrated
in their youngest age but some born without genital organs. Considered as a
caste to the same title that the untouchable, eunuchs live generally from tips
that they receive for their dances during marriages and baptisms.
