Claude - Sorry you have had to join the x.99 club. I think many US gas stations
(where you buy gas. Used to be other services, now they are gas pumps with
junk food, milk, bread, sanitary napkins, and other necessities - no one who
works there will know anything about automobiles) have a sign where you can
change anything but the "XXX.9" where the nine is a fixed pt of the sign. 
When I automatically round up, my kids argue with me, as though the price
I am stating is not within one-tenth or one-hundredth of the real price. 
This, along with laugh tracks, are at least two of the American exports
I suspect the world can do without (gas is $1.35.9 in town at the moment,
