Interesting that you should bring that up, Chris. My son and I were sitting
in the cockpit of what they said was the only working B-29 (out of 4,000
built) in the world (it better have been... by the time I got into the cock-
pit it had cost me $14). Next morning we watched it and a B-24 Liberator
take off into the haze of on-coming rainstorms at the Cedar Rapids airport.
Neat. But not nearly as big as I thought it would be. (Neither was Air Force
One... Bush keeps coming to town to promote the career of some braindead
Republican in our newly gerrymandered congressional district). I think they
were off to bomb some trailer park or something else no one would miss (oops,
sorry Chris)... no really, they are out your way somewhere this week, Rob.
Somewhere on the Iowa/Nebraska or Iowa/South Dakota border. I saw the schedule
and recall that it was only about 200 miles a hop before they sat for a week
and the weekending airline pilots who fly them come back and play "30 Second
Over Tokyo" once again (I would tell you what that was in kilometers, Chris,
but oddly, it seems that Americans are the final (and fanatical) users of
the "English" system of weights and measures (but thankfully not their late,
unlamented monetary system!), and I can't find my calculator. 73 Jan KF0Z #389
