I'd also like to know this one.
I have a couple of German friends, actually Australian now, who successfully ran
a business producing radio control devices. They pioneered garage door
controllers here oh, way back in the late 1970's. Both are sharp RF Engineers. I
have also asked Radio Inspectors {I dunno!]
I posed the same question to them a long time back knowing that the devices they
produced had to be well within the limits or else...
Both said they didn't have a clue. Huh????? They went on to explain that for
them the simplest solution was to send say ten sample transmitters to a
certified standards laboratory where all ten were tested and adjusted for output
power and a report was generated telling them to modify their design to XYZ.
Further modified samples were submitted on this basis and a certificate was then
issued. BTW the antennas were entirely ferrite rods about 2" long but about 50%
larger diameter than you normally see.
I still don't know the answer and 16 months ago someone made them a several
millions dollar offer they couldn't refuse - this is the company I wouldn't sink
a few lousy thousand dollars into in 1981 for needed expansion - superb judgment
on my part!
I also lost a sure resource of free parts, they purchased resistors and
capacitors in million lots at a time.
I'll ask Hermann the question again.
