Snowball Groups (Both #1 and #2),
Jeramy's email below has prompted me to respond with something that I have
been thinking about ever since the new (Post Lloyd) Snowball groups formed.
There seems to be a tremendous urgency to get the Snowball in and out of
everyone's hands quickly. Reading between the lines of Jeramy's email, I
think he feels a lot of pressure to move the box along, probably reducing
his pleasure at having the box. I think this urgency will detract from the
enjoyment of others who receive the box if one is expected to turn it around
in a day or two. There should be a leisurely perusal of the contents,
contemplating what could be done with the part or reminiscing about what one
did with that part in the past. If everyone shipped the box after only one
day in possession of it, and the average shipping time was 3 days, that
means a box could show up every 28 days assuming 7 members in a group. I
don't know about the rest of you but a monthly junk box may be too much.
Please don't get me wrong. I want to participate as much as the next person,
but I think it would be much more enjoyable if the pressure to move it along
could be reduced. I don't think anyone in the group is forcing this
pressure. It just seems that every recipient so far has created the pressure
on themselves, not wanting the group to think they are slow. Lets relax a
little and enjoy this process. I think that was Lloyds original idea.
