[SMCARA] Sun-downing the Reflector

As some of you have heard, we are moving away from the Reflector for a
number of reasons.  The replacement we have chosen is the Groups.io
platform. This is interactive and provides capabilities such as posing
pictures, archiving information, buy/sell, have conversations and more.



Starting from scratch, there are two things you need to do.  Create a
Groups.IO account and then request to join our group.  Groups.IO is a very
large platform; for example, you can find a group for almost any radio made
in the last 10 years and so much more.



To sign up

-          go to https://groups.io/

-          Select *Sign Up* in the upper right corner

-          Enter an email and generate a password for groups.io and
select *[Create
An Account]*

-          You will likely be asked to verify by going to your email account



Once you have an account,

-          go to smcara.groups.io

-          Select *[+ Apply For Membership In This Group]*

-          Admission is done manually by our groups.io staff. There are a
bunch of us so it doesn’t take long for one of us to admit you





*Now that you are in*



When you go to https://smcara.groups.io you will be at the primary *Public*
group (smcara.groups.io/g/public) and from here, you can see what subgroups
are available by selecting Subgroups on the left.  Subgroups are more
focused with some being open to all and some being private.  Most of the
conversations take place in the public group so feel free to jump in and
say Hi.



Here is the primary group and some of the Subgroups we currently have.



Primary Group

Public – This is the primary group open to all



Subgroups

Club – This is restricted to SMCARA Club members

STMA ARES – This is for the St. Mary’s County ARES team and is open to all

Tailgate 2023 – This is for the Tailgate Fest Coordinator and volunteers
