CALLING ALL AMATEUR RADIO OPERATORS!

 

Well, the weather certainly has not cooperated at all in the last several
days!.

 

We WERE going to have a short work party tomorrow morning, Saturday, 12
June, at the Patuxent River Naval Air Museum to begin getting some of the
antenna wiring re-routed for the new amateur radio display station for the
museum but the excessive rain has saturated the outside work area and would
make our tasks very muddy and uncomfortable, even if the rain has stopped.
Accordingly, I am CANCELLING the previously announced amateur radio station
work party at the museum tomorrow.  It will be RESCHEDULED for the following
Saturday, 19 June, beginning at the same time (9 AM) and ending at about 12
noon.

 

As you may have remembered, some of our very dedicated museum artifact
collections volunteers WILL be working out in the parking lot this Saturday
morning, beginning at 9 AM, to begin the inventory of the contents of three
CONEX shipping containers containing a large number of historic artifacts.
That is a rain or shine event and they are forging ahead since they will be
working undercover and in multiple shipping containers.  We still could use
several SMCARA volunteers to stop by after the morning breakfast for about
20 minutes or so to help us maneuver several larger aircraft wind tunnel
models out of one of the trailers so we can put them in a different storage
location.  If you are interested and have a few minutes to spare, please
show up by the trailers to the left of the brown building at the rear of the
museum complex.  I promise. it will only take a few minutes of your time and
would be GREATLY appreciated by the museum collections volunteers, mostly
female, who are coordinating this particular inventory event.  This would be
a great way to demonstrate our support to the museum.

 

I hope to see some of you tomorrow morning at about 9 AM or so for a few
minutes!  This would also be a good time to do a quick inventory of some of
the available items that we can use for the upcoming Field Day event, such
as coffee pots, antennas, radios, etc. that we have stored in our
collections building.

 

I will put out another call for the rescheduled antenna event early this
coming week.
