Good Afternoon!
As promised, theSt. Mary's County ARES team will hold an exercise this coming Saturday, 5 June,0800 - 1100. We will kick it off at 0800 with a roll call on the 147.195(156.7) repeater. To make this more realistic, we'll put the scenario andassignments out at the roll call. So be ready that morning to drive to alocation and operate for a few hours within St. Mary’s County. We will beworking with the Charles County EC, Bob - KB3KOW and possibly a few members oftheir ARES team.
If you plan to participate please send me an email andlet me know. We would like to track folks that have APRS capability during theexercise so if you have APRS and can run it during the exercise, let me knowwhen you send the email.
Everyone should have several printed ARRL Radio-Gramforms with them to allow for sending and receiving traffic. We will passtraffic using voice and if you have portable WinLink capability, using thatmode also.
We will switch to 2 Meter simplex at some point duringthe exercise to test coverage in the County and with Charles County. I will putthe simplex freq out Sat morning during the roll call. So be prepared toprogram one of your radios with the simplex freq. And if you can increase yoursignal while portable by using a higher power mobile, portable antenna with amast, etc that would be a good thing while using simplex.
Also, we will hold our normal ARES net tomorrow (Thursday) nightstarting at 1930. Due to interference issues in the 147.390 repeater, we will holdthe net this week on the 147.195 (156.7) repeater.
73, Rob – N2OMC
