Droidstar

Droidstar is an Android App that makes your cellphone a DMR transceiver. It
works through your Wifi at home or your cell phone data plan to access the
Internet and connect to the IP backbone of a DMR world wide network.
Yesterday afternoon I heard a ham in Montreal using his android Cellphone
on  the Worldwide Talk Group 91, and asked him how he did it.

It also does other formats like P25, Yaesu System Fusion (YSF) and others.

I have used it for DMR.

After downloading it at Google Play https://play.google.com/store  you will
need to do a few things before you can set it up.

DMR ID

To use DMR you will need a DMR ID.

If you have used DMR before you already have one,

but if you need to get one go to https://www.radioid.net/register#!

Register for the Brandmeister

There are a few DMR Networks.  I have used the Brandmeister Network. There
are others.

The Brandmeister Host servers for the United States are:

BM_United_States_3101, BM_United_States_3102,BM_United_States_3103

You will need to Register for the Brandmeister Network and Login.

Recently the requirement to have a password in order to logon to
Brandmeister Host servers for the United States. You will need to get a
password to use the host servers if you do not have one already.. This
article addresses this issue.

Droidstar

After Downloading Droidstar App  from Google Play Store and opening the
app, tap on the “Setting” Tab.

Settings Menu     Do the following

Enter Callsign: WA1HGS

Enter DMR ID: 3124494

ESSID: None

Password: **********  Enter your Brandmeister Master Server Password you
created

Latitude: 38.15 or what ever you get for your location from Google Maps

Longitude: -76.53 or what ever you get from Google Maps

Location:  Tall TImbers MD

That’s should do it  Tap on the Main Tab

Main Menu

Mode: Tap on Mode and scroll down to “DMR”. Here you can see all the Modes
the App supports.

Host: Tap on Host and scroll down to BM_United States_3101

TG ID  Tap on TG ID and enter the Talk Group you want to use. For Example

91 for World wide 3100 for United States 3124 for Maryland State    310 for
TAC310

Hit Connect to activate.

To Talk just Push and Hold the Blue TX button down at the bottom of your
phone while Transmitting. Release to go back to Receive..

Tap on Disconnect to disconnect from Host Server.

There is probably a ton of information that I have omitted, but this will
get you going on DMR with an Android Cell Phone.  I have used this app for
less than 24 hours.

AND it is a lot easier to Program than my GD-77 Radioddity handheld. Just
enter the TG ID and you are off and running.

A small bit of information  I got from W3HDB while talking on the MD State
TG 3124 was  to enter TG ID 4000 and connect to clear you out of the
Brandmeister Network.  Otherwise you may still receive stations from your
previous talkgroup. He was more familiar with the Droidstar App. I am still
a novice.

Hope this information helps. It is an incredible App.

Maybe I can figure out how to use it on Yaesu System Fusion with a little
effort.
