[SMCARA] Vaguely suspicious ...

Hi All,
Does anyone have a store bought USB to UART wire or header end cable using
a the FTDI TTL 232 (x) chip that I could experiment with. I need to see if
I can control it and get it into the USB to bcd parallel mode. These
things are something of a mystery to me. I have an FT245 chip on a USB to
RS-232 and/or parallel board that works like a champ (usb to 4 bit bcd),
but I need a prefabricated cable and none seem to come with the FT-245 chip
(which I know will work in my application).
I am suspicious that they will all provide a parallel bcd output, but I'd
like to prove that before buying several cables.
Let's say that you don't have a cable that I could test with, but you have
encountered these things before, please call and give me the five minute
introductory overview.
Thanks!
Sam
