[SMCARA] Prefered modem?

Hey all-
I am a metrocast/Atlantic Broadband subscriber.
I have VoIP and Internet.  No TV.
I am tired of paying the $10/mo rental fee for the required Hitron modem
router, which has fair performance.

I bought a new router for the house, which appears to be cookin'  allowing
the family to access multiple devices for teleconferencing and the
internet-of-things to also attach.

Question for y'all:
Do you have any recommendations for a telephony modem so I can get rid of
the issued rental?
(Positive responses only please.)
I am looking at an ARRIS TM822G.  It appears to be on the ABB 'authorized
list.
