Fellow Hams,
Sounds like my “Elmer” questions are welcome on the reflector, so I shall use it for that purpose, judiciously. If it gets too much, I can ask privately, and the club leadership is welcome to tell me.
Hope to make the Elmer net tonight, but depends on Ash Wednesday service length.
Many Thanks!
73,
Jeff

Glad to hear you are getting back into radio Jeff and good to hear you on the net last night! There are a lot of folks in the club, including myself that would be glad to help you with antenna ideas, building/buying one and installing it.
We don't have a separate address for questions/elmer support but feel free to post on here if you like. Also, if you have topics you would like to discuss we could use those as topics for our weekly nets. I think you are going to start checking into the elmer net on Weds nights which is another great place to get ideas and information on all things ham radio.
Looking forward to helping you get your station up and on the air :)

I am not sure if the club has a policy regarding this, but my opinion is that by sharing the questions and answers with the whole group is a learning experience for all.
Can the club mandarins * (love that term!) weigh in on the issue?

Hello all!
I'm looking for some HAM help, Elmers, as get myself back into radio. Since I’m sure to have a lot of small questions, over months, I’m trying to avoid spamming the entire SMCARA reflector group.
Do we, SMCARA, have a separate e-mail address for something like this, or is that what the main reflector groups is for?
If no, and you would be willing to help me, please reply directly to me, on the CC line, and I’ll make my own e-mail of list of those of you willing to receive, and perhaps answer, my questions.
In terms of questions, I’m about to build my first antenna, which I intend to put on my roof, and hook to my HT to work some VHF, then UHF contacts, modes, etc. There is a huge amount of published knowledge on the internet, but most lack some specific, and basic details.
Thanks in advance!
73!
Jeff
