[SMCARA] Holiday Dinner and 2019 Wrap Up

SMCARA,

 On Saturday night, 15 members and guests met at the Olive Garden for a good meal and a great time! After everyone had finished stuffing themselves, I made the announcement of the recipient of this year's Presidents Award. Due to the hard work Tony, N5TB put into planning and executing this years Field Day, we felt he was a perfect candidate for the award, thank you Tony! This was not an easy decision to make since the club is full of very dedicated people who put in a lot of effort to help make SMCARA the great organization that it is.



  Next came the door prizes. Tickets were drawn for one of the many door prizes which were ARRL books, slim Jim J-pole antennas and a couple of HRO gift certificates. We had enough door prizes for almost everyone in attendance to walk home with something new. Many thanks to Jayne and Rick for the help with the prizes!



  As we wrap up 2019, I'd like to thank everyone that helped make my first year as president so enjoyable and rewarding. And a big thanks to the other members of the board for all of their work and effort during the year; Jayne, Walt, & Pete all put in a lot of effort to help keep things running smooth, thank you!



  We had a lot of activity this year and good participation, I look forward to keeping that momentum going into 2020. The meetings have gone well with a presentation at every one. My goal is to continue to have a presentation or activity at every meeting in 2020. The nets have also been going very well with a topic every week and a good number of check-in's, thanks to Jayne for helping as net control! I am looking to do Winter Field Day as a club in Jan 2020, standby for more updates on that. And very soon, we should have an Echolink node up and running on the 640 repeater, thanks to Tom for the work on that!



  So in closing, I sincerely wish everyone a very enjoyable holiday season and may you all have a happy and healthy 2020!
