Afternoon everyone,

Before the Easter Triduum/Holy days/Passover really start this evening, I
wanted to talk a bit about something and offer a service to the club.

As you all may or may not know, I recently completed the IPC J-STD-001
soldering certification. You may know how to solder but learning to solder
and having your work inspected to industry standards is a completely
different set of rules. I passed all the tests and now I have a purdy
certificate and three initials (CIS) after my name. Yay me! It still
isn't helping me get a job but its another certification to slap on the ol'
resume..

That all being said, if you are doing a project or a repair and you really
don't think that you can handle the part remove/replace or dare I say,
those teeny tiny SMD devices/components I am your person for assistance. I
have the tools and optics to do down to 0402 components (.04x.02 inches)
I can do 0201's but they can be fussy to do by hand and I get cranky doing
them!. So if that new project board you got has SMD's and you are leery of
doing them or you need that magic resistor pulled of your radio (I'm not
judging you...what you do after its done is on you shipmate) or you just
cant be fussed with it, then I am you guy! And I think you'll like my
current price for the work as well. Its by DONATION. You tell me what you
think my time is worth. You can either give it to me (that would be nice)
or you can PROMISE to put that amount in the collection plate/poor
box/worthy charity of your choice in memory of me. That would be fine too
if you follow up with it but I'm not going to check. Also, if you want to
try your hand on SMD's I would be more than happy to put you on the
microscope and give you tips on how to do it Same donation policy applies
for using my station. What I cannot do currently is BGA work (dont have
the heater station) or help you troubleshoot your item. Not set up for
that yet. Just the re-work side so you have to know whats borked and
provide all the replacement parts.

There ya go. If you are interested just send an email to me (off list
preferably) and lets talk about your needs. Maybe in the future I can drag
some stuff over to a Saturday session and do a little class/demonstration
about precision standardized soldering.

Have a peaceful blessed Easter/Passover

73,

Ren W3BNY
