Hi Gang!
How do you plan on celebrating Summer Solstice, which occurs tomorrow at 1007Z (a bit after 5 AM), the 21st of June? Well, for one thing you could get up at "zero dark thirty" and mark the longest day of the year. Yep the days will be getting shorter after tomorrow! The sun begins its trip to the southern hemisphere, whose denizens are now enduring the dead of winter.
Or you could send a quick note to June, so she knows how much chow to bring on Saturday! Collect what you plan on bringing to the pot luck Saturday, dinner time. Remember, our policy is that no one goes home hungry from FD Pot Lucks!
Or you could put a list of stuff together that you will need for Field Day 2018! Like....where's my sunhat? Where's my sunscreen? Where's my favorite [ enter favorite accessory here- mike, key, headphones, rig, fan, bug spray]...you know how it goes!
All seriousness aside, lets get pumped for FD18 at the Hollywood Volunteer Fire Brigade's headquarters in Hollywood this Saturday! We will start showing up around 8 to 9 AM to setup the club's dipoles, as well as the two GAP Titans that N5TB has restored. Stringing up the tent lights and AC power lines to the generator needs to be done too. Six has been hot recently, so we will have a 6 meter antenna up, which by the way, does not count against our 3A transmitter limit. I'll bring my Buddiepole and Micro BITx just for "show and tell".
We'll have lots of radios and coax to get setup too. To paraphrase Larry, N3JTN; "You can never have too much coax"!

P.S., It looks like we may have some Dayton Hamvention Weather (i.e., rain), so be prepared for that. We will be keeping an eye on the radar and if some thunder bumpers get too close, we will shut down temporarily as a safety precaution.
