Of historical interest:
The MF bands were once the domain of the "Empire of the Air"; the big commercial broadcasters of the 1920's and 30's.
Those early network moguls lobbied Congress to relegate the "HAMs" to the higher frequencies, thinking that the Amateurs "wouldn't be able to get out of their backyards in those bands" !!
