[SMCARA] New FT8 Mode & Logging

Hi Everybody,

 

If you are operating with the new FT8 digital mode and logging via the
WSJT-X application and using HRD as your master logbook (may apply to others
also) make sure before importing the ADIF file to add the new mode to your
logbook configuration. Tools-Configure-Modes-Add-FT8 

 

I ran into an issue where during the initial import FT8 came in as the mode
but when I looked up the information for the call via HRD logbook & QRZ to
fill in name, country ect upon updating and saving the entry it reset the
mode to SSB. Not a big deal as I only had about 50 entries so far but could
be a real pain if you don't catch it in time. I was able to just delete the
entries looking for SSB and the "-db"signal reports and then re-import after
the mode was added.

 

Not sure how this will be handled by LOTW but I hope they start recognizing
it soon.
